Context
How Louisiana regulates e-bikes
Louisiana recognizes Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 e-bikes. The state-specific age and helmet rules are: A person under 12 may not operate a Class 3 e-bike. A person under 12 may ride as a passenger on a Class 3 e-bike that is designed for passengers. Every Class 3 operator and passenger must wear an approved bicycle helmet. Louisiana does not add that Class 3 helmet rule to Class 1 or Class 2 riders.
